In the first review for The Vampire's Cult, Rebekah Kati at Library Journal called the book “an engrossing story about human depravity.”

In my opinion, that is the perfect summary of this story. For me, this has always been a book about human depravity: how alluring it can be, and how easy it is to succumb to it under the right circumstances.

Kati also noted the care I took while crafting the book's narrative flow. While I did closely follow the timeline of the crime, and the events that led up to it, I tried to reveal these baffling events in a way that would build suspense and, as Kati put it, create "a sense of unpredictability." I spent a significant amount of time thinking about how best to pull readers into Aubrey Trail's twisted world and leave them as disoriented and unsettled as the people who encountered him in real life, and I am pleased that she highlighted the impact this effort had on her while reading the book.

All in all, I have been very happy with the early responses the book has received, and with Kati's review in particular.
